Nuclear SIG
The East of England is home to one of the largest new nuclear build programmes in the UK. Sizewell in Suffolk has been at the heart of the region’s nuclear industry for more than 50 years and is currently in the advanced initial planning stage. When in operation, the new power station could produce as much as 6.5% of the UK energy needs in the early 2020s.
Nuclear has made a significant contribution to the region’s economy for many decades and has a well-established, skilled and experienced supply chain.
The purpose of the Nuclear SIG is to bring together the expertise within the membership to advise EEEGR on how best to support the sector moving forwards.
The Nuclear SIG has evolved from a previous EEDA and Cranfield University led Nuclear Task and Finish Group. The initial meeting was open to any person or business with an interest in the nuclear industry. Subsequent meetings will be open to EEEGR members and support organisations plus others by invitation.
- Open to: EEEGR members, support organisations and others by invitation.
- Next Meeting: TBC
