SNS2015: The Sea of Opportunity

The most important conference for the offshore energy industry in the East of England. The Southern North Sea Conference 2015 will be the biggest conference and exhibition that EEEGR has ever delivered.

Major industry speakers from leading international businesses will be highlighting the supply chain opportunities and identifying major issues effecting the energy sector in the coming months and years at EEEGR’s flagship conference and exhibition, SNS2015, at the Royal Norfolk Showground Arena on March 4th and 5th.

  • Nigel Jenkins of Decom North Sea presenting the opportunities to come from decommissioning, well plugging and abandonment. A follow up from the roundtable and previous Decomissioning SIG held in November 2014.

  • Matt Bagley of Camouflaged Learning on putting industry infront of schools; how do we improve the communication? 
  • Professor Lawrence Coates of the University of East Anglia on whether lecturers are needed in a modern world.
  • Major Oli Morgan of Bloodhound SSC on 'Changing the World Through Engineering; Enthusing the Next Generation’

In addition we are having a number of breakout sessions.

Breakouts will take place in the afternoon of Day 1 as part of the Skills session. These will cover: 

  • Oil & gas – what does the future hold? 
  • An overview of the offshore wind industry  
  • Offshore wind – what does the future hold? 
  • OPITO’s new industry skills tools 
  • An update on changes to offshore training standards 
Breakout sessions will focus on: 
  • CAA CAP 1145: An update on Category A EBS equipment provision and training – logistics and timeframes. This session is following on from the breakout held at EEEGR2014, and will continue the discussion on successful implementation of the programme. Speakers include Mark Goodall, Aker Solutions as Chair, Michael Wilder, Petans, Les Linklater, Step Change in Safety,and Captain Stephen Williamson, Bond Air Services, Mike Gislam, Base Manager at Dancopter. 
  • Marine Breakout Session: EEEGR hosts a number of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which focus on specific areas of interest and expertise in the energy industry. This session will be an opportunity to register your interest in attending a series of Marine SIGs to be run by EEEGR in association with our colleagues at IMarEST, (The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology). Chaired Dr Bev MacKenzie, Technical and Policy Director at IMarEST the session will consider the various vessel types and categories that operate in the marine energy sector. Chris Jones of Osbit Power and Wiebe Jan Emsbroek of Ampelmann are confirmed to speak on their Walk to Work systems. CTruk will bring members up to date with the findings of their sea trials of the first-of-class CTruk MPC22, ‘CWind Sword’ multi role catamaran workboat. Other speakers will be announced shortly for this session so keep watching this space.
  • Marine SIG: Nominations for steering group. The proposed marine SIG will require a steering group to lead and drive the Group. Nominations are now being accepted for the group and should be emailed to Ruth Owen at EEEGR on  
  • Meet the Buyer: Meet representatives from key companies that you’d like to do business with during a series of short one to one appointments. This session will facilitate engagement between major companies and the supply chain, and provide you the opportunity to have one-to-one appointments with the right people.
