Putting the Skills into Energy - Networking Breakfast

Wednesday 31st March 2010
OrbisEnergy, Lowestoft, NR32 1XH

**Major New Addition to the Programme!

The energy industry needs people today and in the future.  It needs people with the right skills and attitudes, at the right time and the right place.  Also, the industry is changing and needs to make sure that it can change the skills base of the people already working in it. This breakfast will focus on the most pressing skills issues that our industry faces.

  • Engaging with younger people so they recognise that the energy industry provides them with a wide range of exciting choices and career options for many years to come, either locally or overseas
  • Helping people understand what skills they could develop and what we need to do to provide them with this through a foundation apprenticeship
  • Makeing it easier for military personnel to integrate their highly transferable skill-base into the industry
  • Up-skilling people that already work in the industry through modular, work based learning that could potentially take them through a foundation degree to doctorate.
  • Enhancing training provision to the industry in the East of England**

This event will address each of these issues and more importantly, will give you the opportunity to find out what this means for you and your company, and how you can benefit.

**Major New Addition to the Programme
Skills for Energy is currently undertaking a feasibility study for an Energy Skills Centre in our region. This breakfast will be the first opportunity for you to hear about the plans and to have your in-put.

One to one sessions

One to one sessions will follow the breakfast from 11.15-14.15 and will focus on assessing the need and demand to complement or enhance training provision for the industry in the region.
