EFG (Engineering for Growth)

Wednesday 25th January 2012 09:30-16:30

Lord Nelson Grandstand, Great Yarmouth Racecourse, Jellicoe Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk NR30 4AU

EFG 2012 – The Engineering Future Growth Exhibition and Conference

Introduction

Over the next ten to fifteen years, the energy sector will see large scale investments and developments that will represent a multi-million pound set of opportunities for the engineering sector in the Norfolk, Suffolk and overall Eastern Region. In recognition of this exceptional prospect for the region, the Engineering Future Growth (EFG) Exhibition and Conference at the Great Yarmouth Racecourse, 25th January 2012 has been organised to prepare businesses for the needs of the multi-faceted energy sector.

There is currently significant regional momentum in the energy sector with continuing large scale developments in such areas as; wind energy (both onshore and particularly offshore), wave and ocean energy, new nuclear build, further developments on gas, decommissioning of oil and gas installations, biomass and others.

Exhibition

With the already strong existing foundation and incoming investments, the engineering community has a significant, long term opportunity to support and service the burgeoning energy community. The EFG exhibition will provide the stage to showcase just what our region has to offer for businesses at all levels in the supply chain. EFG 2012 will take initiative and present to the region the potential of these new and ongoing demands and educate on the actions needed to be taken to raise the knowledge in the industry and improve the visibility of the needs of their target market sector.

Conference

Simultaneously with the exhibition, EFG 2012 will feature two conferences advising businesses on how they can best prepare and plan for these phenomenal opportunities and guide them through the process of engaging with the relevant key industry players and decision makers. Outlining the varying opportunities in the energy sector, speakers at EFG 2012 include John Best, EEEGR (Ongoing Oil & Gas Opportunities), John Beresford, E.ON (Wind Power), Stuart Smith and Edwin Elliot, Dabbrook (Photovoltaic Power), Dr. Dan Mistry, Culham Centre (Fusion Energy), John Murfitt, Norfolk Capacitors Limited (Transmission) and a representative from EDF (New Nuclear).

EFG 2012 has received support received support from The Norfolk and Suffolk Chambers of Commerce, EEEGR, The Crown Estate, Waveney District Council and Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
