Enterprise Zone
At the end of June, the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (NALEP) submitted a bid to central Government to develop an Enterprise Zone in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. The bid focused on enhancing the areas market share of activity and income from the energy sector.
On 17th August, the NALEP received the news that the bid had been given the green light and was one of only 11 approved out of a total of 29 bids, in fact the NALEP submission was ranked as one of the five best received.
The Enterprise Zone is designed to encourage business development and generate jobs through a combination of financial incentives and reduced planning restrictions (local development orders) and covers 121.7 hectares of development-ready land within the two locations.
Consultation
Following our success in supporting a strong business voice in the process of winning Enterprise Zone status for Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, we are drawing your attention to the opportunity to contribute to the consultation process for the next stage of development. More information can be found here.
The Enterprise Zone consists of six areas of land. Great Yarmouth's port, EastPort, sits within one of these; South Denes. As part of their own submission to the consultation process they have proposed an alternative Business-Led LDO (Local Development Order) for this area.
They have made the documents available for EEEGR members to review and refer to if appropriate in support of their own submission. GYBC encourage comments to be submitted by emailing online consultation forms from the website above to ldoconsultation@great-yarmouth.gov.uk
Please note that this matter is very time sensitive as the consultation process closes at 17:00 on Thursday 16 February 2012.
