Economic Development Manager

Mike is the Economic Development Manager at Suffolk County Council a post he has held for 4 years. He has over 20 years experience in managing and operating projects and programmes in the area. Prior to working for SCC he worked for Waveney District Council, the East of England Tourist Board and EEDA on their IIC programme. He is part of the New Anglia LEP team established to operate the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Enterprise Zone. He also provides a technical resource to NALEP in other areas including providing advice on programme compliance.
Having lived and worked here for over two decades he has extensive experience and networks in the field of regeneration. He is committed to assisting the sub region of Suffolk and Norfolk maximise the economic benefits from emerging economic projects.
He trained as Town Planner but has spent the bulk of his career in Economic Development. He has management qualifications is also a long standing member of the Institute of Economic Development. Before moving to Suffolk he worked for Local Authorities in the East Midlands and the South east of England.
Mike lives in Lowestoft and as a semi-retired windsurfer thinks wistfully of days out to sea with the wind and waves. He now has to increasingly settle for cycling to the beach to watch the young guns do their stuff.
