4th EEEGR Board Election Process
When EEEGR started in April 2001, as a not for profit, business focused organisation, we had an aspiration to be lead by an Elected Board, supported by co-opted expertise, and Board observers. In this way we can truly provide an effective "All Energy" organisation for the East of England. This guidance has helped EEEGR to build its membership to 280; 179 of which are Regional Members (commercial business having an operating address in Bedfordshire, Cambridge, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk or Suffolk - the East of England). This equates to a membership increase of 9% on the same time last year.
To ensure that the skills and leadership which have helped EEEGR to get where it is today are retained, a process that provides for nine elected directors from the private sector has been employed. Each year, three directors (unless varied by individual circumstances) will resign in rotation and will then be eligible to present themselves, along with any other properly nominated member if they so wish, for the annual election. In this way we have a process which provides regular open opportunity for engagement whilst retaining continuity of experience. Last year, 2 directors were appointed; this year Don Paulino (who was co-opted to replace Fons Claessen), Doug Nunn and Paul Alcock will be retiring by rotation, and we will be seeking to elect three directors from those nominated.
Under the Articles of Association, as a regional organisation, only Regional Members are entitled to present themselves for election, and to vote on the subsequent nominations. However all members, Regional, Non Regional and Supporters, may support and endorse an application for an individual person in the nomination process.
Following EEEGR's Annual General Meeting held on the 11th October 2007 we can confirm that the three new elected directors to the board, serving a three appointment until 2010, are:
- Doug Nunn, Managing Director, Fraser Offshore Ltd (re-appointed)
- Don Paulino, Plant Manager - Bacton, Shell U.K. (re-appointed)
- Michael Wilder, General Manager, Petans (new appointment)
We would like to pay specific thanks to Paul Alcock of Acteon who stepped-down effective today having served on the board since being elected in 2004.
We can also confirm that Lovewell Blake have been reappointed as our auditors for the coming year, and that the Statutory Accounts were also approved. Our annual accounts are available upon request.
John Best, Chief Executive of EEEGR, gave an overview of the last 12 months activity and outlined plans for the coming year.
