BioREGen Project

Renewables East has been awarded funding of £680,000 from EEDA under the Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) Programme for the project BioREGen. The project aims to establish a coherent programme to identify and evaluate opportunities to recover resource value as renewable energy and to provide appropriate support to regional businesses to develop and invest in these opportunities.

The project BioREGen provides support for the deployment of technologies recovering energy from wood and organic residues generating heat and power via:

  • Anaerobic Digestion
  • Gasification
  • Combustion

BioREGen will fund consultancy to address critical strategic issues and barriers to development, supporting projects from inception to delivery. Site specific support will be provided from experts with technical and commercial skills in:

  • Technology choice
  • Planning and regulatory issues
  • Power purchase agreements and grid connections
  • Risk and return
