Offshore Wind Master Class at Lowestoft College

In the shadow of one of the UK tallest wind turbines, Gulliver, the master class will feature training sessions by experts working in offshore wind from the UK, the Netherlands and Germany. Delegates will gain a unique insight into the opportunities, technologies and challenges of offshore wind, the fastest growing form of renewable energy generation around the coastlines of the North Sea.
Training sessions will explore the UK and European offshore wind market, constructing, operating and maintaining offshore wind farms, logistics, turbine support structures and foundation technologies and power generation technologies. On the final day attendees will experience the marine environment first hand in the College's environmental training pool where they will learn how to safely access offshore wind turbines structures from a boat.
The master class is open to representatives of companies already involved in or interested in becoming part of the offshore wind industry and students studying engineering and maritime related qualifications at college or university from the POWER regions.
Ian Pease of Lowestoft College who is organising the master class said, "Offshore wind represents a significant opportunity for the engineering and maritime communities. The East of England's experience in offshore gas and marine logistics means that we are well placed to capitalise on the opportunity. The master class will inform people about the market and how they could become involved."
The College is taking bookings for the class now which is offered to businesses at an introductory rate of £150 per delegate or £75 to students. For a full course outline and joining instructions contact Sue Brockie at Lowestoft College telephone
